Mark Zakharov

Mark Zakharov (born Mark Anatolyevich Shirinkin) was a Soviet and Russian actor, theatrical director, film director, and screenwriter. He was educated at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts and began his professional work in 1955. His career spanned until 2019, during which he was employed by the Moscow Academic Theatre of Satire and Perm State National Research University. He was a member of the Association of Filmmakers of the USSR and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

Zakharov received several awards, including the USSR State Prize, People's Artist of the USSR, Order of Friendship of Peoples, and Medal "Veteran of Labour." His notable works include the film *The Twelve Chairs*, as well as *Kontakty na raznykh urovni︠a︡kh* and *Superprofessia*. He was the father of Alexandra Zakharova and spoke Russian. He was born in Moscow on October 13, 1933, and died there on September 28, 2019, from pneumonia.
