He began his career with SGA Sirnitz before establishing himself at Red Bull Salzburg, where he won five Austrian Bundesliga titles and four Austrian Cups. He later played in the German Bundesliga for FC Augsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt, winning the UEFA Europa League with the latter in 2022. After retiring from professional football later that year at the age of 29, he returned in 2025 with Austria Klagenfurt.
