== Geography == Matéri is a commune, arrondissement, and town in the Atacora Department of north-western Benin. It covers approximately 1 740 km² and had a population of 113 958 inhabitants as of the 2013 census. The commune is subdivided into six arrondissements: Dassari, Gouandé, Matéri, Nodi, Tantéga, and Tchanhoun-Cossi; these include 55 villages in total. The terrain is relatively flat with elevations generally between 150-250 metres.
