AI overview

Memphis was the ancient capital city of Egypt, originally known as Inebu-hedj, and served as a major center of power and culture for thousands of years during pharaonic times. It matters today because it represents a crucial period in human civilization and provides archaeologists with important evidence about how one of history's greatest early societies was organized and lived.
