== Geography == The village is located in the Lyubach River basin (a left tributary of the Reut River in the Seym basin), from the Russia–Ukraine border, south-west of Kursk, south-west of the district center – the urban-type settlement Medvenka, from the selsoviet center – Verkhny Reutets. Climate Mertsalovka has a warm-summer humid continental climate (Dfb in the Köppen climate classification).
