Greek composer and singer (1917–2005)
Michalis Genitsaris (Μιχάλης Γενίτσαρης) (15 June 1917 – 11 May 2005) was a Greek singer and composer of the rebetiko genre. He was known as the last pre-war rebetiko singer. He was born in Piraeus, Greece. He first heard the sound of the bouzouki when he was 10, in the taverna owned by Γιώργος Μπάτης that was near his house. He was curious about it and when he discovered his father's old baglama in an old box he began playing. <a href="https://www.last.fm/music/Michalis+Genitsaris">Read more
