Microcanthus is a genus of stripeys with an antitropical distribution in the Pacific Ocean.
==Taxonomy== Stripeys were thought to constitute a single species, M. strigatus, but a paper published in 2020 recognizes two valid species: Microcanthus strigatus (Cuvier, 1831) (northern stripey) Microcanthus joyceae Whitley, 1931 (East Australian stripey)
