Migennes is the starting and finish point of the canal de Bourgogne
There is a market every Thursday morning (finishing around 12:00-13:00) where you will find all the food and local products along with the classic market clothes. The market hall and the life around are quite a sight and good way to discover local food.
Several supermarkets are spotted all around town
Migennes has a few restaurants ranging from kebab shops, pizzerias, brasseries and an Asian food restaurant. Ask the locals for their favourites place to eat.
Not a lot of drinking option (at least at night) but you might find the odd bar staying open late depending on patronage.
The "Cabaret L'escale" is your best bet for an evening with live music show and a few drinks. The place is quite famous for being a heritage of the Music Hall golden age in France and have seen many famous French artists at their beginning. Check the program before as some evening booking is required.
Otherwise if you fancy a different atmosphere, you will have to drive to Auxerre (20 km south) as there is no public transport at night
Auxerre, Joigny, Paris and Dijon are accessible by train
Vezelay - UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its Basilica Sainte-Marie-Madeleine de Vézelay, located on the highest point of the city.
