== History == By the mid-19th century, the town had a population of 426 inhabitants. According to Pascual Madoz's Geographical-Statistical-Historical Dictionary of Spain (1848), Montarrón was a small municipality in the province of Guadalajara, situated on a well-ventilated hillside with a cold climate. It contained 139 houses, a town hall, a jail, a primary school for about 50 boys, a separate girls' school with 12 pupils, and a parish church dedicated to the Immaculate Conception.
