Morphou

Also known as Morfou

Morphou (; ) is a town in the northwestern part of Cyprus, under the de facto control of Northern Cyprus. Having been a predominantly Greek Cypriot community before the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus, the town is now inhabited by Turkish Cypriots.

Morfou (in greco moderno: Μόρφου, traslitterato anche Morphou, in turco Güzelyurt oppure Omorfo) è un comune appartenente de facto alla Repubblica Turca di Cipro del Nord e, de iure, alla Repubblica di Cipro, con 18 946 abitanti (dati 2011). Morfou fa parte de facto del distretto di Güzelyurt (Cipro del Nord) e, de iure, del distretto di Nicosia (Cipro).La città è famosa per le sue arance, mele, verdure, pompelmi e meloni. Gran parte degli agrumi vengono esportati e il resto viene trasformato in succo di frutta e inscatolato per il consumo locale e l'esportazione. Morfou è anche famosa per il suo annuale Festival dell'Arancia, un evento importante che dura due settimane.
