How and whence could all of this emerge in a Soviet socialist republic? How did a brand new music scene, original in sound and philosophy in every way, and at the same time absolutely in sync with global music trends come forth? They weren't that fond of the Soviet label «VIA». And since neither of us is fond of this acronym, let us rechristen this music.

Mustache Funk est un film documentaire ukrainien d'Oleksandr Kovsh et Vitaliy Bardetsky sur les ensembles vocaux et instrumentaux des années 1970, devenus des groupes folkloriques occidentaux en Union soviétique. Le film explore le phénomène du « funk moustachu » de « l'âge d'or » de la musique pop ukrainienne. Il traite des groupes tels que Smerichka, Svityaz, Arnica, Kobza, Patterns of Ways, March, Bells, Waterfall et d'autres.
