Nearchos

He is known for his celebrated expeditionary voyage starting from the Indus River, through the Persian Gulf and ending at the mouth of the Tigris River following the Indian campaign of Alexander the Great, in 326–324 BC.

Nearchos (gr. Νέαρχος; ok. 360 – 300 p.n.e.) – jeden z żeglarzy oficerów armii Aleksandra Wielkiego, z pochodzenia był Kreteńczykiem. Znany jest jako admirał floty 800 okrętów którą poprowadził rzeką Indus do Zatoki Perskiej podczas indyjskiej kampanii wojennej Aleksandra Wielkiego. Wspomnienia z jego podróży z Indii do Suzy zachowały się w dziele Indike autorstwa Flawiusza Arriana.
