Quotes

  • "By accepting our role as crewmates, not passengers, we have the power to create a future for all life on Earth that's as beautiful as it looks from space."
  • "Permafrost holds a vast amount of carbon—around 1,500 billion tons are stored in the Northern Hemisphere. That carbon accumulated from the burning of fossil fuels and from dead plants and animals decomposing over thousands of years. That means around twice as much carbon is stored in permafrost as currently exists in all the Earth's atmosphere. When the permafrost melts, everything falls apart."
  • "The view of Earth from space is breathtaking, and it really shows our place in the universe. It's up to us to take care of this beautiful planet."
  • "I have vivid memories of watching the first moon landing as a family, then going outside with my parents and looking at the moon and thinking, wow! There's people up there!. Even as a kid I thought wow that's really cool —but it never occurred to me that I could go to space one day myself."
  • "Art is a universal communicator, it is one of the ways that allows me to engage with audiences that might not otherwise think about what we're doing in space every day that's helping improve life here on Earth."
