Er ist einer der bekanntesten Filmkomponisten im deutschsprachigen Raum. Sein Werk als Filmkomponist wurde mit fünf Deutschen Filmpreisen für beste Musik ausgezeichnet und hat ihm zudem zwei Bayerische Filmpreise und drei Filmpreise der Fondation SUISA eingebracht. Niki Reiser schrieb zudem die Musik zu dem Academy Award Nominee Film JENSEITS DER STILLE (1996) und zu dem Academy Award Winner Film NIRGENDWO IN AFRIKA (2001), beide Filme von Regisseurin Caroline Link. Niki Reiser unterrichtet an der ZHdK (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste) Masterstudierende im Fachbereich Film/Theater und Musikkomposition.
