Öland ist eine schwedische Ostseeinsel in der heutigen Provinz Kalmar län. Mit 137 km Länge und einer maximalen Breite von 16 km besitzt sie eine Fläche von etwa 1347 km². Öland ist damit (nach Gotland) die zweitgrößte Insel Schwedens und zugleich die kleinste historische Provinz des Landes. Sie gliedert sich in die Gemeinde Borgholm im Norden und Mörbylånga im Süden. Die Insel ist seit 1972 mit der auf dem Festland gelegenen Stadt Kalmar durch die sechs Kilometer lange Ölandbrücke verbunden.
