Ornans () is a commune in the Doubs department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in eastern France. On 1 January 2016 the former commune Bonnevaux-le-Prieuré was merged into Ornans.
==Personalities== Ornans is the birthplace of the French realist painter, Gustave Courbet (1819 - 1877). One of Courbet's most famous paintings is Burial at Ornans, which depicts actual people from the area attending a funeral.
