Oscar van Hemel (Antwerp, 3 augustus 1892 - Hilversum, 9 juli 1981) was a Dutch composer. Van Hemel studied at the Koninklijk Vlaams Conservatorium in Antwerp where he was a student of August de Boeck en Lodewijk Mortelmans. From 1930 to 1933 he studies with Willem Pijper, to whom he dedicated his first sonata for violin and piano. During the First World War Van Hemel played the violin at the Dutch Opera in Amsterdam. In 1918 he settled in Bergen op Zoom where he teached violin, piano and music
