«Оте́лло» (англ. The Tragedy of Othello, The Moor of Venice) — трагедия Уильяма Шекспира, написанная около 1603 года. Действие происходит во время венецианско-турецкой войны (1570—1573) за контроль над островом Кипром, с 1489 г. принадлежавшим Венецианской республике. В 1571 г. после длительной осады портовый город Фамагуста перешёл под контроль турок. Сюжет разворачивается вокруг двух персонажей: Отелло и Яго. Отелло — мавританский офицер в чине генерала на службе в венецианской армии в ходе вторжения Турции на Кипр. Незадолго до событий пьесы он вступил в брак с привлекательной и состоятельной венецианской дамой Дездемоной, по возрасту намного моложе него, вопреки запрету её отца. Яго — недоброжелательный поручик Отелло, издевательски подливающий масла в огонь ревности своего руководителя, который, потеряв былое хладнокровие, в итоге убивает свою возлюбленную жену в порыве слепой ярости. За раскрытие не теряющих актуальности тем страсти, ревности и этнической розни «Отелло» по-прежнему является популярной и часто экранизируемой пьесой. Входит во Всемирную библиотеку (список наиболее значимых произведений мировой литературы Норвежского книжного клуба).
