Italian comune

AI overview

I can't write an accurate overview based on the provided context, as "Palau" appears to be identified only as an "Italian comune" (municipality), which doesn't provide enough information about what makes it notable or why it would matter to a general reader. I would need additional context to write a meaningful 2-sentence overview.

Encyclopedic overview

Palau (Gallurese: Lu Palau) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Gallura North-East Sardinia, in the Italian region of Sardinia, about 220 kilometres (140 mi) north of Cagliari and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) northwest of Olbia. It was a frazione of the comune of Tempio Pausania until 1959.

It is located on Punta Sardegna, and was founded in 1875 by local shepherds.
