The parametrium is the fibrous and fatty connective tissue that surrounds the uterus. This tissue separates the supravaginal portion of the cervix from the bladder. The parametrium lies in front of the cervix and extends laterally between the layers of the broad ligaments. It connects the uterus to other tissues in the pelvis. It is different from the perimetrium, which is the outermost layer of the uterus.

O paramétrio é o tecido fibroso que separa a porção supravaginal do cérvix (colo do útero) da bexiga. O paramétrio (chamado estroma cervical por alguns autores) está na frente do cérvix e se estende lateralmente entre as camadas dos ligamentos largos. Não deve ser confundido com o perimétrio, que é a camada mais externa do útero. A artéria uterina e o ligamento ovariano estão localizados no paramétrio. É constituído por um tecido celulofibroso, e contém os pedículos vasculonervosos uterinos.
