Pasteuria is een geslacht van endosporenvormende, gram-positieve, hyperparasitaire, pathogene bacteriën. De wetenschappelijke naam werd in 1888 gepubliceerd door Elie Metchnikoff. Metchnikoff noemde het geslacht naar "onze beroemde en bewonderde meester (notre illustre et vénéré maître)", Louis Pasteur.
