His artist name comes from the Japanese phrase "ぺんを" ("PEN-O") which is the word "pen" plus the object particle and means that something is done with a pen, e.g. writing. On June 28, 2020, Penomeco announced that he has parted ways with Million Market, following the end of his 4-year contract. On April 20, 2021, it was revealed that he had signed an exclusive contract with P Nation and subsequently released his second extended play, Dry Flower, on the same day.
