Peter Wilton Cushing (Kenley, 26 maggio 1913 – Canterbury, 11 agosto 1994) è stato un attore britannico, noto in particolare come protagonista di film dell'orrore prodotti dalla casa cinematografica britannica Hammer Film e per il ruolo del Grand Moff Tarkin nel film Guerre stellari (1977). Volto tra i più noti della TV e del cinema inglese, a partire dagli anni cinquanta divenne celebre come interprete del cacciatore di vampiri Abraham Van Helsing, oltre che per il ruolo del barone Victor Frankenstein e per quello dell'investigatore Sherlock Holmes. Tra le altre interpretazioni, da ricordare è il ruolo del protagonista nelle pellicole apocrife ispirate alla serie Doctor Who. Un convinto vegetariano per quasi tutta la propria vita, fu inoltre patrocinatore della Vegetarian Society dal 1987 fino alla morte.
