Philhellenism ("the love of Greek culture") was an intellectual movement prominent which promoted Greek culture. It contributed to the sentiments that led Europeans such as Lord Byron, Charles Nicolas Fabvier and Richard Church to advocate for Greek independence from the Ottoman Empire.
