Um sistema planetário consiste numa formação de objetos não estelares que orbitam uma estrela, tal como planetas, satélites naturais, asteroides, meteoros, cometas e poeira cósmica. Desde 30 de junho de 2022, existem 5108 exoplanetas em 3779 sistemas descobertos, com 826 sistemas tendo mais de um planeta. Há ainda 2.724 candidatos à espera de confirmação. O sistema planetário ao qual pertence o planeta Terra é denominado Sistema Solar. Aos demais, se dá a denominação de sistemas extrassolares, que são formados por exoplanetas.
