==Taxonomy== thumb|left|Close ups of various parts of the holotype Platysuchus was originally described as a member of the genus Mystriosaurus, as M. multiscrobiculatus. However, Westphal (1961) found M. multiscrobiculatus generically distinct from Mystriosaurus and renamed it Platysuchus.
