PlayOnLinux and PlayOnMac 4 allows you to install and use non-native applications on your favorite operating system. PlayOnLinux is a piece of software which allows you to easily install and use numerous games and apps designed to run with Microsoft® Windows®. Few games are compatible with GNU/Linux at the moment and it certainly is a factor preventing the migration to this system. PlayOnLinux brings a cost-free, accessible and efficient solution to this problem. Here is a non-exhaustive list of the interesting points to know: You don’t have to own a Microsoft Windows license to use PlayOnLinux. PlayOnLinux is based on Wine, and so profits from all its features yet it keeps the user from having to deal with its complexity. PlayOnLinux is free software. PlayOnLinux uses Bash and Python. Nevertheless, PlayOnLinux has some bugs, as every piece of software: Occasional performance decrease (image may be less fluid and graphics less detailed). Not all games are supported. Nevertheless, you can use our manual installation module.

PlayOnLinux es una aplicación pensada para aprovechar mejor a su aplicación madre Wine enfocándose principalmente en ejecutar videojuegos del sistema operativo Windows. Es una herramienta pensada para la ejecución de programas de Windows en ambientes UNIX como GNU/Linux, pero un problema según su comunidad es que Wine, por sí solo, no es muy eficiente instalando videojuegos; y al final se presentan problemas de configuración, que disminuyen el rendimiento de la aplicación. PlayOnLinux se encarga de configurar a Wine para la ejecución adecuada de videojuegos, mediante el uso de scripts que modifican el comportamiento de Wine. Estos scripts pueden ser creados por los usuarios y su extensión de archivo es ".pol". También permite ejecutar aplicaciones populares como Microsoft Office, Microsoft Money (2003 y 2004), Safari, Trillian 3, WinRAR, Blender (el cual ya existe una versión compatible para linux) y SketchUp.
