Ungeachtet dieser Verwaltungseinteilung werden beide Orte jedoch im Allgemeinen als ein Ort betrachtet. Die City of Poughkeepsie ist County Seat (Verwaltungssitz) des Dutchess County. Beide Orte zusammen haben 76.067 Einwohner (Stand 2010), wovon 32.726 auf die City und 43.341 auf die Town entfallen.
