Pterandra is a genus in the Malpighiaceae, a family of about 75 genera of flowering plants in the order Malpighiales. Pterandra comprises 15 species of trees, shrubs, and subshrubs, all but two native to South America, principally Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil; the exceptions (P. mcphersonii, P. isthmica) are from Panama. There are only some ornamental plants introduced in China, and there are no native varieties.
