Encyclopedic overview

NGC 7722 is a lenticular galaxy in the constellation of Pegasus. Its velocity with respect to the cosmic microwave background is 3,639±26 km/s, which corresponds to a Hubble distance of 175.0 ± 12.3 Mly (53.67 ± 3.78 Mpc). It was discovered by German astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest on 12 August 1864.

NGC 7722 is a LINER galaxy, i.e. a galaxy whose nucleus has an emission spectrum characterized by broad lines of weakly ionized atoms.
