Régis Gizavo (June 16, 1959 — July 16,2017) was a Malagasy accordionist. He was born in Tulear, Madagascar and began playing the accordion at a young age. In 1990 he won the Radio France Internationale "Prix découvertes". In addition to two solo albums, Régis Gizavo has been a member of the Corsican group I Muvrini, and contributed to a range of recordings, including albums by the Cape Verdean singers Cesária Évora and Lura. Régis Gizavo (Toliara, Madagaskar, 16 juni 1959 – Corsica, 16 juli 2017) was een accordeonist, gitarist en zanger. Hij begon op jonge leeftijd accordeon te spelen. Zijn eerdere beroep was visser. In 1990 won hij de Prix découvertes (Radio France Internationale). Kenmerkend voor Gizavo was de grote beheersing van zijn linkerhand naast die van zijn rechter. Met beide handen was hij gelijktijdig tot zeer veel in staat. Hij kon twee verschillende melodieën tegen elkaar in spelen.
