Rita Marcotulli nasce a Roma nel 1959. Fin dalla più tenera età viene avviata allo studio del pianoforte presso il Conservatorio di S.ta Cecilia a Roma. Dopo una curiosità iniziale per i ritmi sudamericani, in particolare per la musica brasiliana, verso i 20 anni comincia ad avvicinarsi al mondo del jazz….ed è subito successo. La sua carriera è subito travolgente, e dall' inizio degli anni '80 Rita Marcotulli ha la fortuna di poter collaborare con il "gotha" del jazz europeo : John Christen
