Nel 2001 è balzato alle cronache per l'accusa di uxoricidio della seconda moglie, Bonnie Lee Bakley: il processo e i retroscena sul passato della coppia (la donna aveva sposato Blake perché era rimasta incinta, ma all'epoca frequentava anche Christian Brando, figlio di Marlon Brando) hanno animato per anni le cronache giudiziarie di Hollywood.
