Robert Cecil, 1. Viscount Cecil of Chelwood

Robert Cecil, born Robert Gascoyne Viscount Cecil in 1864, was a British politician, lawyer, diplomat, and Esperantist. He was educated at Eton College and University College, Oxford. Cecil served in various governmental roles, including Lord Privy Seal and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, and worked as a rector. His professional locations included London, and he was employed by the United Nations. He was a member of the Conservative Party and spoke both English and Esperanto.

Cecil received the Nobel Peace Prize, an honor for which he was also nominated. He is recognized in the Nobel Peace collection. Born in Cavendish Square, he died in Royal Tunbridge Wells in 1958. His father was Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, 3rd Marquess of Salisbury. He had several siblings, including Hugh Cecil, 1st Baron Quickswood, and James Gascoyne-Cecil, 4th Marquess of Salisbury.
