Roulette is a casino game named after the French word for "little wheel," likely developed from an Italian game, in which players place bets on outcomes such as specific numbers, colors (red or black), or whether numbers are odd, even, high, or low. The game matters as a historically significant form of gambling that has been popular enough to inspire literary depictions and remains a standard fixture in casinos.
