Die Frucht der Art ist im Mittelmeerraum eine beliebte Speisefrucht. In Amerika und auf dem Galapagos-Archipel ist die Mittelmeer-Brombeere eine gefürchtete invasive Pflanze, die dort einheimische Pflanzen verdrängt.
