Encyclopedic overview
Santa Luzia is an island of the Barlavento archipelago in Cape Verde (officially: Cabo Verde), located between São Nicolau and São Vicente.
The island, along with the islets Branco and Raso, was designated the Santa Luzia Nature Reserve in 1990 and the 11,000 hectares (27,000 acres) Santa Luzia Marine Protected Area (MPA). All three are on the tentative list of UNESCO's List of World Heritage Sites.
