Der Säntis ist mit 2501,9 m ü. M. der höchste Berg im Alpstein (Ostschweiz). Durch die exponierte, nördlich vorgelagerte Lage des Alpsteins ist der Berg eine von weither sichtbare Landmarke. So gibt es beispielsweise im Schwarzwald oder auf der Schwäbischen Alb Häuser mit dem Namen Säntisblick. Vom Säntisgipfel aus kann man in sechs Länder sehen: Schweiz, Deutschland, Österreich, Liechtenstein, Frankreich und Italien.
