Sealdah is a neighbourhood of Central Kolkata in Kolkata district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

==Etymology== Jackals (sheal in Bengali) howled around Sealdah. Antiquarians identify it as Shrigaldwipa (Jackal Island). Nearby Beliaghata was a port in the Salt Lakes.
