Shareware is proprietary software that is initially shared by the owner for trial use at little or no cost. Often the software has limited functionality or incomplete documentation until the user sends payment to the owner. Shareware is often offered as a download from a website. Shareware differs from freeware, which is fully-featured software distributed at no cost to the user but without source code being made available; and free and open-source software, in which the source code is freely available for anyone to inspect and alter.

البرمجيات التجريبية (بالإنكليزية: Shareware) هي برمجيات يتم توفيرها للمستخدمين بدون دفع على أساس تجريبي وغالباً محدود بمجموعة من الوظائف، أو الإمكانيات (قد تكون فعالة لمدة زمنية محددة فقط)، أو الملائمة (البرمجيات قد تظهر مربع حوار عند التشغيل أو أثناء الاستخدام، تذكر المستخدم بشرائه;«مربعات الحوار المزعجة»).وقد توجد هذه البرمجيات بغرض التجربة فقط وليس التسويق التجاري.وهي تخضع لحقوق الملكية الفكرية ولايحق إعادة برمجتها أو تسويقها دون اذن الطرف المالك لها. البرامج التجريبية هي برامج مدفوعة (غير مجانية) حيث أن الشركات المنتجة للبرامج تقوم بإصدار نسخة من تلك البرامج لكي يجربها الناس ويختبروها ومن ثم يقرروا شرائها من عدمه.
