==History== Shirland is mentioned in the Domesday Book as Sirelunt in the hundred of Scarsdale. According to this ancient document the manor was given to William Peverel after the Norman Conquest. Peveral inherited many manors around Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire including Nottingham Castle.
