Established in 1860, Simpson has established a rich tradition of providing an exceptional liberal arts education. We’re consistently recognized as one of the top private colleges in Iowa, the Midwest, and the nation. While 75 percent of our students come from Iowa, our student body features representation from 42 states. The great majority of Simpson alumni choose to stay in Iowa to make in impact, but you will also find them thriving and making a difference across the country and around the world. Since our founding, we’ve been one of Iowa’s leading educational institutions. Based in Indianola, our rich legacy features generations of difference-making students and alumni who distinguish themselves as leaders in their professions and communities. From Walking Through the Gates and Yell Like Hell each fall to Campus Day of Service in the spring, Simpson is home to many beloved traditions. Our beautiful campus in Indianola is full of shade trees, historic architecture, and outstanding academic facilities. Simpons’s strategic direction and everyday operations are led by Interim President Susan Stuebner, supported by a team of senior leaders, and governed by our Board of Trustees. The Office of Community and Belonging is charged with creating and implementing the institutional strategic plan. We will promote the pillars of community and belonging while providing opportunities for engagement of students, staff, and faculty. We will serve as the institutional hub for campus-wide community and belonging initiatives. We offer more than 80 areas of study for undergraduate students, plus graduate, continuing, and online education options. Lawmakers. Renowned scientists. Business leaders. Our alumni have made an impact in Iowa and beyond. Perhaps most famous is George Washington Carver, who briefly studied here on his way to groundbreaking discoveries that advanced agriculture.
