==Taxonomy== The genus was circumscribed by Italian lichenologist Abramo Bartolommeo Massalongo in 1855, with Solenopsora requienii assigned as the type species. However, this species had previously been described in 1840 by Camille Montagne, as Parmelia holophaea.
