Der census-designated place (CDP) ist Teil der Brunswick Metropolitan Statistical Area und hatte beim Zensus 2000 13.381 Einwohner. Sie hat eine Fläche von 46,2 km². Fort Frederica, heute Fort Frederica National Monument, befindet sich auf der Insel. Die Anlage stammt aus der britischen Zeit der Province of Georgia und ist heute eine Ruine.
