Hezekiah Leroy Gordon Smith (August 14, 1909 – September 25, 1967), better known as Stuff Smith, was an American jazz violinist. He is well known for the song "If You're a Viper". Smith was, along with Stéphane Grappelli, Svend Asmussen and Joe Venuti, one of jazz music's preeminent violinists of the swing era. Stuff Smith, geboren als Hezekiah Leroy Gordon Smith, Portsmouth (Ohio), 14 augustus 1909 - München, 25 september 1967, was een Amerikaans jazzviolist. Smith werkte vanaf zijn dertiende als violist in een restaurant, waar hij merkte dat jazz meer aansloeg dan klassieke composities. Hij leerde op een eigen wijze spelen waarbij hij zich verdiepte in de swing. Smith maakte opnamen met onder andere Oscar Peterson, Dizzy Gillespie en Fats Waller.
