Styrax L. è un genere di piante della famiglia che comprende un centinaio di specie di arbusti e piccoli alberi, diffusi nelle regioni temperato-calde e tropicali dell'Emisfero boreale e, con una sola specie, dell'Emisfero australe (Sudamerica). Una specie, Styrax officinalis, cresce anche in località isolate d'Italia.
