Tacinga ist eine Pflanzengattung aus der Familie der Kakteengewächse (Cactaceae). Der botanische Name der Gattung ist ein Anagramm des Wortes „Catinga“, dem Verbreitungsgebiet der Gattung in der brasilianischen Caatinga. Die grünen Triebe sind im Querschnitt rund und stockartig, manchmal leicht gedrückt oder rund, länglich oder elliptisch und etwas abgeflacht. Sie können gegliedert sein und werden im Alter holzig. Die stark zurückgebildeten Laubblätter sind klein, schlank und zylindrisch. Aus den schwarzen, mit Glochiden besetzten Areolen entspringen 2 bis 3 kurze Dornen, die auch fehlen können und bald abfallen. Die blass gelben, grün bis violett bis braun melierten Blüten entspringen entlang der Segmentkanten oder in der Nähe Triebspitze. Sie öffnen sich am Tag oder sind am Tag und in der Nacht geöffnet.
