==Taxonomy== The genus Tephrodornis was introduced in 1832 by the English naturalist William Swainson with the large woodshrike as the type species. The genus name combines the Ancient Greek tephōdēs meaning "like ashes" or "ash-coloured" with ornis meaning "bird".
