Ternate (Lombard: Ternà) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Milan and about 11 kilometres (7 mi) southwest of Varese. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,270 and an area of 5.1 square kilometres (2.0 mi).
Ternate borders the following municipalities: Biandronno, Cazzago Brabbia, Comabbio, Inarzo, Travedona-Monate, Varano Borghi.
