Famously described by John Peel as being "always different, always the same", The Fall was formed in Manchester, England in 1976 during the Punk era although their style quickly evolved into something more idiosyncratic. The one permanent fixture amidst the Fall's ever-changing line-up was Mark E. Smith (1957 – 2018). Smith's lyrics are free, unboxed and unpredictable, touching on an extremely wide range of subjects and places, and caring little for being tied down to easily digestible message

The Fall è il quarto album in studio del gruppo musicale britannico Gorillaz, pubblicato il 18 aprile 2011 dalla Parlophone e dalla Virgin. L'album include meno collaborazioni con altri artisti rispetto ai precedenti album del gruppo: fra gli artisti che hanno contribuito sono inclusi Bobby Womack, Mick Jones e Paul Simonon dei The Clash. Per promuovere The Fall, i Gorillaz hanno pubblicato il videoclip del brano Phoner to Arizona, uscito il 22 dicembre 2010 sul canale YouTube del gruppo, e pubblicato il doppio singolo Revolving Doors/Amarillo nel mese di marzo.
